Bent Sørensen wins P2 Artist 2021 and his album ‘Concertos’ wins Album of the Year, New Classical at this year’s P2 Music Awards, the Danish classical music awards given by the Danish National Radio.

In January 2021, P2 announced Bent Sørensen as the winner of the P2 Artist award. It is the first time that the award is going to a composer!

"With Bent Sørensen as the first composer to win the P2 Artist award, we wish to focus on classical music as a contemporary art, where music is created here and now. And we are looking forward to sharing his music with our P2 listeners. With its nature full of premonition and its moments of characteristic quiet, which incites curiosity, Bent Sørensen’s music has a magical power." – Esben Tange, DR P2

And Saturday, February 13, P2 unveiled the albums of the year. Album of the Year, New Classical was awarded to Bent Sørensen’s ‘Concertos’.

Three beautiful concertos performed by the three outstanding soloists. Leif Ove Andsnes in the Second Piano Concerto La Mattina and Tine Thing Helseth in the Trumpet Concerto, with Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, and Martin Frost in Clarinet Concerto Serenidad  with The Danish National Symphony Orchestra.

★★★★ Each work shows Sørensen’s striking gift for melodies that twist and microtonally smudge before dissolving. – Steph Power BBC Music Magazine

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ New album with solo concertos for trumpet, clarinet and piano by Bent Sørensen, is an entrancing experience of ghostlike beauty - performed by outstanding musicians. – Thomas Michelsen, Politiken (23 March 2020)
