In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Oscar-winning composer Tan Dun created Prayer and Blessing. Its centuries-old words are by the Chinese philosopher and writer Laozi, a 6th-century BC contemporary of Confucius.

Earlier this week, a virtual performance, live-streamed internationally, united artists from twelve countries:
• Bulgaria
• China
• France
• Germany
• India
• Israel
• Japan
• Norway
• Russia
• South Korea
• Turkey
• United States

Prayer and Blessing was written for students at Bard College, where Tan Dun serves as Dean of Bard Conservatory, for their own collaborative performances.
