Seán Curran Company celebrates its 20th anniversary at BAM's Next Wave Festival with the World Premiere of Everywhere All The Time, choreographed to Surface Tension by Donnacha Dennehy and performed live by the Grammy award-winning Third Coast Percussion on October 24-27 2018.

Delving deeper into these themes and excavating the primordial nature of percussion music, Everywhere All the Time contemplates the essential yet conflicted relationship of humans with the world. In increasingly polarized and tumultuous times, we are at once more interconnected and more solitary, on the verge of spiraling into collective loneliness. In Dennehy's innovative composition, clear tubing stretched from the musicians' mouths to the heads of the drums creates tension to stretch and change the sounds of percussion instruments.

The set has been designed by the late Dr. Diana Balmori, a renowned landscape architect, with costume design by Liliana Casabal, visual design by Mark Randall, and lighting design by Robert Wierzel.

'Works for drums can be rich in rhythm and timbre, but are often harmonically less interesting because of the pitch limitations of the instrument. But a new piece by Dennehy, given its New York premiere at the Metropolitan Museum of Art by Third Coast Percussion on Wednesday, proved an exception.

'Inspired by the museum's historic collection of percussion instruments and by the techniques used to play the bodhran, a traditional Irish frame drum, Mr. Dennehy's Surface Tension incorporated an unusually wide spectrum of pitches'.

Everywhere All The Time premiered at Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center at The University of Alabama at Birmingham on October 5 2018. It will tour nationally in 2019-2020.
