Salonen’s four-movement Violin Concerto won the 2012 Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition and was premiered with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2009 by Leila Josefowicz. The concerto is coupled with Nyx, a single-movement piece for full orchestra that paints a musical portrait of the shadowy Greek goddess. Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
