Omega and the Deer a new collaboration of choreographer Ingun Bjørnsgaard with Rolf Wallin

Rolf Wallin has worked on several projects with the Ingun Bjørnsgaard Prosjekt such as Seven Imperatives and Urban Bestiary, and now has collaborated for the first time with British composer Tansy Davies on the music for Omega and the Deer, including music from his percussion concerto Das war schön!.

Omega and the Deer was premiered on 17 October 2011 at the Oslo International Dance Festival and the German premiere will follow on December 4th in Berlin as part of the Nordwind Festival, with subsequent performances in Potsdam and Hamburg. The US premiere will be in January 2012 in New York; for further details see below.

Ingun Bjørnsgaard often stages her fumbling and beautiful characters in the moment of transversing the boundaries between restraint and absurd spectacle. In Omega and the Deer the characters are lost in such a place on the way to the forest, and are taken prisoner by their own shadows.

In 1992, Ingun Bjørnsgaard established her own dance company, Ingun Bjørnsgaard Prosjekt (IBP), and with this company has created many ballets, touring throughout Norway and a variety of European cities. While developing her art as a choreographer with IBP, Bjørnsgaard has also worked on a regular basis as a visiting choreographer with companies such as the Royal Ballet in Stockholm, Skånes Dance Theatre in Malmö, Carte Blanche in Bergen, the Norwegian National Theatre in Oslo, Komische Oper in Berlin, and the Norwegian National Ballet.
