Members of ballettmainz perform Schläpfer’s Streichquartett

Swiss choreographer Martin Schläpfer, who has recently formed the prestigious European dance company of ballettmainz, has taken on the ballet director position of Ballett am Rhein in the twin towns of Düsseldorf and Duisburg in Germany. The season opening and the presentation of the new ensemble on October 16 includes the choreography of the iconic Symphony No 3 by Witold Lutosławski . In 2007 Schläpfer was awarded the Prix Benois de la Danse at Bolschoi Ballett in Moscow for his choreography of Lutosławski’s String Quartet. Schläpfer’s choreographic style has been described as a new definition of classicism, with an astonishing visualisation
of musical structures.
