Faryl Smith’s debut album entered the charts at Number 6 and includes the track Mother of God, here I stand by John Tavener. This is a vocalise version of the adored anthem from Tavener’s all night vigil The Veil of the Temple. Faryl, the young winner of Britain’s Got Talent, will be touring the UK this summer with live dates from June.

Tavener’s Requiem, Mahashakti and Eternal Memory is released on EMI Classics for purchase or download . This BBC Recording features Elin Manahan Thomas, Andrew Kennedy, Josephine Knight and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Vasily Petrenko.

John Tavener’s recent work Towards Silence was commissioned by The Rubin Museum of Art and The Music Mind Spirit Trust. In Tavener’s own words ‘the work may be seen as a meditation on the different states of dying, but from an esoteric sense it is a meditation on the four States of Atma’. The premiere took place in April in New York at the BRAINWAVE FESTIVAL and will premiere in the UK at Colet House in London on July 4 with the Medici Quartet and three student quartets.
