Haitink and Solti conduct McCabe
The London Philharmonic Orchestra has recently released world premiere recordings conducted by Haitink and Solti of Concerto for Orchestra by John McCabe and also the London premiere performance of McCabe’s The Chagall Windows. Each of these works was recorded live at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

A mutual and productive respect between the London Philharmonic Orchestra and John McCabe has grown from their first collaborations in 1972. The CD was until recently available only as part of a box set issued to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Orchestra. It has now been issued separately.

‘intense lyricism, rhythmic guile and brilliant orchestration’ Classical Source on McCabe’s Concerto for Orchestra.

‘The brilliance of both composers’ instrumental scoring is matched by the sheer brilliance of the LPO’s playing, and collectors of Haitink and Solti should certainly hear them.’
