To celebrate its twentieth anniversary, NMC Records has commissioned and recorded new music by nearly 100 composers in a survey of contemporary song from the British Isles.
The NMC Songbook features new works by composers including Simon Bainbridge, Brian Elias, Simon Holt, Stuart MacRae, John McCabe, Peter Maxwell Davies, Thea Musgrave, Tarik O’Regan, Judith Weirand Hugh Wood. A four-CDbox-set was released in April, and individual tracks can be downloaded from the NMC website.
