Joby Talbot has been appointed Classic fm’s first ever Composer in Residence, in partnership with the PRS Foundation for New Music. In this post Talbot will write a new piece scores for up to five instruments every month for one year which will be premiered and playlisted at the start of each month on Classic fm. In 2005 a CD release will include the 12 new works. Talbot will also take part in a wide range of programmes across Classic fm’s schedule, online at classicfm.com and in the Classic fm Magazine. Through these platforms, he will give listeners a unique insight into the composing process. Listeners will also be given the opportunity to be involved in the commissioning process by suggesting subjects and titles for forthcoming works. The first commission was broadcast in the Classic fm Evening Concert on February 5 at 9pm.
