Tan Dun Appointed Composer-in-Residence by Grafenegg Festival

The Grafenegg Festival, Austria has appointed Tan Dan as their Composer-in-Residence for the 2009 season. As Composer-in-Residence of the festival which runs from August 20 to September 6, Tan Dun will hear the premiere of his lastest work, Earth Concerto for Stone and Ceramic Instruments with Orchestra, as well as performances of several other works including his concertos for paper percussion and water percussion. Additionally, featured screenings of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “The Map,” both films scored by Tan Dun, will be shown during “film breakfasts.” The composer will also lead discussions and a composition workshop.
