A major new animated film project will receive its first broadcast on Channel 4 on Boxing Day. Wilde Stories is a trilogy of Oscar Wilde’s best-known stories for children co-produced by Lupus Films and TerraGlyph Productions. Each film is set to music by leading film composer Debbie Wiseman – “The Nightingale and the Rose” and “The Selfish Giant”, adapted by Wiseman from her Grammy nominated scores for narrator and orchestra as recorded by Teldec, and “The Devoted Friend” for which Wiseman was commissioned to write an original orchestral score. Audiences in Birmingham and London had the chance to preview “The Selfish Giant” and “The Nightingale and the Rose” when Debbie Wiseman conducted the National Symphony Orchestra in performances played live to both films. These two Children’s Classics concerts were presented by Atarah Ben-Tovim, and the films were rapturously received by sell-out audiences.
