Song for a Raggy Boy, which has a score by Richard Blackford, has won the Golden Swan for best film at the 2003 Copenhagen International Film Festival. Set in Ireland and directed by Aisling Walsh, the film is based on Patrick Galvin’s novel - the true story of one man’s courage to stand up and fight the brutal fascist regime of an Irish boys’ boarding school in 1939. The film exposes one of the darkest secrets in Irish history and stars Aidan Quinn and Iain Glen.
