For those with young children waking up early at Christmas, the perfect distraction can be found in Wilde Stories being broadcast on Channel 4. These short animated films of Oscar Wilde stories feature music by Debbie Wiseman. The first of three is The Nightingale and the Rose which will air on Sunday December 23 at 6am. The Selfish Giant will be broadcast at 5:50am on Christmas Eve, the story tells of a selfish giant who is transformed by the innocent love of children. The final story in the series, The Devoted Friend, explores the nature of friendship and society and can be viewed at 6:15am on Christmas Day.
