Esa-Pekka Salonen and Magnus Lindberg are the joint artistic directors of a major international festival of Lindberg’s music, promoted by the Philharmonia Orchestra, the South Bank Centre, London and van Walsum Management. Related Rocks: The World of Magnus Lindberg will feature major works such as Kraft, Aura, Cantigas, to be performed alongside works by composers who have been a particular influence, including Stravinsky, Sibelius, Varèse and Berg, and Lutoslawski. There have also been unique collaborations created especially for the festival, including Akram Khan’s new choreography for the work which gives the festival its title, Related Rocks which was been performed by the Akram Khan Company and the London Sinfonietta in December 2001. The festival runs through November and December, with further concerts in February 2002. Some of the concerts will also be given in Brussels and Paris.
