granada (2026)

written in Granada after a peña flamenca in a cave of the Sacromonte, granada is perhaps the most maximalist, bombastic, and technically challenging piece on the album. like Ravel, Debussy, and Granados, these spanish sonorities have always drawn me in, carried me away. the piece evokes a moment of human, and above all musical, empowerment, a rupture with the muted, minor, melancholic, and overly simple minimalism of the piano too often, and wrongly, labelled “neoclassical”. inundate your mind with intentions to turn you out (TLC). a mantra cast into space, a vibrant pulse, a breath that stretches and surges forward, an invitation to be carried away, to step out, to transform, to unfold.

composée à Grenade, après une peña flamenca dans une grotte du Sacromonte, granada est sans doute la pièce la plus maximaliste, bombastique et technique de l’album. tout comme Ravel, Debussy et Granados, ces sonorités espagnoles m’ont toujours happé, aspiré, emporté. la pièce raconte un moment d’empouvoirement humain et surtout musical, rupture avec le minimalisme feutré, mineur, mélancolique et simpliste du piano trop souvent, à tort, qualifié de ‘néoclassique’. inundate your mind with intentions to turn you out (TLC). un mantra lancé dans l’espace, pulse vibrant.
