Programme Note
"Luftgeister" were created for the installation ‘Chickpea(ce)’ by Daniel Rothman, which depicts a sound phenomenon of chickpeas that occurs during soaking: small explosions that sound like microtonal electrical impulses. Inspired by this sound of chickpeas and the violinist Nurit Stark with her musical ancestors, the Doină, air spirits visit the installation, communicate with it and disappear again, just as musical and personal experiences do with us.
