Programme Note
Mad Rush was composed for the Dalai Lama’s first public address in North America, in 1979 at New York City’s Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
The work was described as being of “indefinite length” to accommodate an open arrival time and processional into the cathedral. Accordingly, repeat structures in this are suggestions and may be altered to fit the duration required.
