Programme Note
“Las constelaciones que más brillan” is an orchestral work inspired by the eponymous illustration by Pere Ginard (Ginard, P. [2023], “Las constelaciones que más brillan”, Libro de maravillas. Barcelona: Libros del Zorro Rojo).
From the very beginning of the piece, ‘constellations of high-pitched notes’ float suspended, layered over a foundation of distant, low frequencies, evoking the vastness of the universe. In this soundscape, periodic resonances emerge, creating a sense of continuity, while unexpected timbral elements add a touch of strangeness.
The work is characterised by the use of simple materials that evolve in a subtle yet perceptible manner. This gradual development gives the composition a distinctive identity, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in a process of gradual ascent that explores the concept of impermanence through sound.
