This six movement work was composed in New York City in 1957

 

Musica Antiqua No. 1 of 1957 is premiered at the Sydney Town Hall by the Seymour Group directed by Stuart Challender on the 20th January in the presence of the composer. In the same concert Letters from Morocco of 1952 and Thomsoniana of 1949 are also performed by the same musicians with Gerald English singing.
