        Programme Note

        The King Lear Overture was conceived after the extended time I spent with the play in its 2019 Broadway presentation with Glenda Jackson. However, it is musically a completely new version of this subject matter. I envisioned this in a similar style as the overture in Opera. —Philip Glass
