Programme Note

The composer Mark Andre uses a process that is literally expansive. He eavesdrops on a room: its acoustic signature. It starts with a "sweep", an ascending frequency that runs through the entire range of the sound spectrum we can hear and elicits a response from the room, a resonance. This is absolutely unique and can be analysed with the help of audio measurement technology. Echographing is the name of this adventure for the ears - and serves Mark Andre as the starting point for his musical creativity.
