Aria (2023)
(Orlando Returns to London - as a Woman)

This aria specially written for Andrew Watts is an adaptation of Act II scene ii of Thea Musgrave's chamber opera ORLANDO - an Escapade based on Virginia Woolf's book.

Orlando has suddenly and mysteriously changed into a woman and must now learn to live in a new way. She remembers her desolation when, as a very young man, 'his' passionate affair with Sasha was suddenly broken off without any explanation. Orlando is determined that this will never happen again.
