Fuel (2010)
(for clarinet, cello and piano)

The compositional starting point for Fuel has been musical materials who also functioned as part of the material for my large orchestral piece ´Ignite´ which I composed the same year.

In Fuel the rytmic and harmonic material is explored from a chamber musical perspective. The piece consists of 6 miniatures which are linked to each other by the same basic materials. The first miniature starts off with a wild, repetetive and fast flowing expression. In the second and third miniatures the musical material has developed into strong rytmic, dancelike elements. The music slows down in miniature four and gradually changes towards a more melodic and intense expression.

In the fifth and sixth miniature the rythmic and dancelike characters from the earlier miniatures return with full force.
