Woodlands (2012)
(for bassoon solo)

The inspirational starting point for this composition has been Bram van Sambeeks spectacular, virtuotic and yet at the same time delicate musicianship as well as the wonderful soundqualities and possibilities the bassoon as an instrument presents. I have had in my mind a abstract idea of a mystical realm Woodlands in wich all the different musical materials presented in the piece travels to and from. Within this enviroment the materials interact and change and gradually develop and grow, finally coming togehter at the end of the piece in a high register soundworld where both past and present co-exist.
