Programme Note
In the cyclically conceived compositions in between, I am concerned with the compositional realisation and juxtaposition of the greatest possible freedom in the individual, up to the aleatoric-improvisatory gesture, and structural rigour with a tendency towards density and high complexity.
In these miniatures I use traditional notation in score form, but also completely independently notated parts with a high degree of asynchrony. The results are variable small organisms with great flexibility, sometimes with the consequence of an absolutely self-sufficient presence. In concrete terms, this means that individual movements can be performed both simultaneously and in the individual voices.
in between (I) was created for the Munich musicians Gertrud and Klaus Schilde and was premiered in Tokyo in 2005.
