Programme Note
Peggy Glanville-Hicks's Etruscan Concerto is almost certainly her best known work - instantly recognisable from the opening notes of its joyous first movement. Inspired by D.H Lawrence's collection of travel writings Etruscan Places, the music is full of memorable tunes, colourful orchestration and rhythmic energy.
