Programme Note

Conversio for violin and piano (1994) is among the best-known early works by Erkki-Sven Tüür (b. 1959), not least because Gidon Kremer (and later on Leila Josefowicz as well as Pekka Kuusisto) made the work famous throughout the world. In 2015, the composer produced a version Conversio II for violin and 2 percussionists on commission of the Moravian Autumn Brno Festival. The new version was premiered on October 15, 2015, in the Besední dům (hall of the Filharmonie Brno) by violinist Milan Paľa and OK Percussion Duo (Martin Opršál, Martin Kleibl).
