Percussionist Songs (1995)

Percussionist Songs were written for Robyn Schulkowsky. There are seven of them, the first using drums, the second metal, the third marimba with five freely chosen resonant objects, the fourth the performer's hands and body, the fifth like the third but without the marimba, the sixth using various kinds of material not previously used, the seventh primarily metal. "Songs" because the material is mostly used melodically, sometimes with counterpoint, as in the seventh song, which is a kind of "transcription" of a five-part chanson by Josquin Desprez.
