Programme Note
My Percussion Concerto is divided into two very different parts, simply because it is composed in what feels like (even though the time span is only a little more than one year) two different ages. The first part was composed in the autumn of 2019 before the COVID-19 epidemic hit us all, and my work with the piece drowned in home schooling and quarantines. The second part was composed in the spring of 2021, when society had gradually begun to reopen. Where the first part is virtuous, playful, and extroverted, the second is softer, more deliberate and open.
