Streichquartett Nr. 5 (2006)

It seems to me that the conditio sine qua non for composing string quartets should be a passionate love of this genre and at the same time the inner necessity of wanting to express oneself musically with this instrumentation.
Polyphemus, the one-eyed giant, is a useful and reliable, even benevolent monster. He watches with a stern face to ensure that those climaxes for four strings that have already been written in the past are not forgotten. Otherwise this man-eater will also swallow music paper, and the new score will disappear from the concert circuit forever immediately after the premiere.
In the meantime, I ask for mercy as a precaution.
