Programme Note
Frames in Transit is composed for Trio Trespassing (Daniel Frankel – vl, Niklas Brommare – perc & Jesper Nordin – electr.) and ochestra. The pieces takes its title from the trio’s album Transitory Frames from 2009. The music is partly based on and inspired by improvisations done by the trio. The piece also includes several parts where the trio gets to improvise within more or less clearly defined frameworks. It is a very eclectic piece that includes everything from violent outbursts to soft lullabies. In the electronic part Jesper Nordin uses his invention Gestrument where you can play music with gestures. It exists as an iOS app and here it is used in combination with a Kinect motion sensor so Nordin can play using gestures in thin air, www.gestrument.com.
