Gegenwind (2004)

Gegenwind was created in 2003 in collaboration with the brilliant organist Bernhard Haas and is dedicated to him. It uses his idea of moving some organ pipes close to the bore of the pipe stock and placing a pencil point in the bore, which concentrates the wind and makes it sound sharper. Whispering sounds are also composed. The piece was inspired by an experience in which the organist and the rewinding registrant got into a dispute during a concert.
