This critical edition of Jean Sibelius’s Symphony No. 7, Op. 105, presents the definitive orchestral materials for performance, based on the Jean Sibelius Works (JSW) series.

Sibelius completed the Seventh Symphony in 1924 after years of revision. It stands as one of his most distinctive works—composed in a single continuous movement, yet encompassing a full symphonic argument. The music shifts between slow and fast sections with striking fluidity, and the recurring trombone theme gives the work both structure and weight. It is concise, direct, and concentrated, with a formal clarity that masks its underlying complexity.

This edition is based on Sibelius’s autograph manuscripts, first editions, and other primary sources and was edited by Timo Virtanen. The symphony was published in collaboration with Edition Wilhelm Hansen by Breitkopf & Härtel with the National Library of Finland and the Sibelius Society of Finland.
