Programme Note

Composer note
I live in one of the last remaining concentrations of old growth redwoods. The trees are magnificent, silent witnesses to centuries of earthly life. Many bear fire scars from a time before the current climate crisis; they cannot survive the apocalyptic fires that beset us today. My husband toils everyday on our land to create the conditions for our house and trees to survive a future conflagration. He tells me often that he can hear the redwoods sing.
