Programme Note
The music and structure of Strata was suggested by a poster (The Pyramid of the Capitalist System) which was produced by the Industrial Worker magazine in 1911; I first encountered this poster during the exhibition ‘Picturing the Social Order’ at Leeds City Art Gallery in 2008.
