Programme Note
Franz Waxman originally composed The Liberty Fanfares for the Jerry Wald and Delmer Daves production of Task Force (Warner Brothers, 1949). The film is a tribute to the emergence of naval aviation and stars Gary Cooper, Jane Wyatt, and Walter Brennen.
Appropriately, this composition had its first performance by the Goldman Concert band in New York City and was presented as part of the Liberty celebration.
