October and November bring us a wealth of music by Bryce Dessner in Europe.

Amsterdam Sinfonietta and ISH Dance Collective present Pulsing for String Orchestra in a performance exploring TS Eliot’s The Wasteland. Performances through 13 October.

Festival Roma Europa, a regular collaborator with Dessner, presents Dream House Quartet, which he formed with the Labèque sisters and David Chalmin, in a concert including movements one and two of a composite work called Sonic Wires on 6 October. The programme also includes Anna Thorvaldsdottir‘s what things become, commissioned by the Quartet earlier this year.

On 15 October the Labèques play Dessner’s Concerto for Two Pianos with the Orchestre National de Lyon, written for them in 2018, this performance marks the 35^th outing for this popular work in the hands of these wonderful artists. The programme also includes St Carolyn by the Sea in which Dessner will play electric guitar. The following week on 22 October they take the piece to Vilnius for the country premiere with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra.

In November Dessner is featured composer at The Approximation Festival and November Music. The festivals have co-commissioned the final movements of Sonic Wires. Performances of the composite work can be heard on 8 November in Dusseldorf and then and 9 November in 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands. In two concerts on 10 November given by South Netherlands Philharmonic and Ensemble Resonanz, audiences can also hear performances of Lachrimae, Tenebrae for String Orchestra, Aheym for String Orchestra, Trombone Concerto with Jörgen van Rijen and St Carolyn by the sea and Garcia Counterpoint featuring Dessner playing guitar.
