Volker Bertelmann on his composition “15 Million Acres“ for the World Choir for Peace:
"15 Million Acres" is a piece that evolved during the devastating bush fires in Australia at the end of 2019. It deals with mourning the transience and the enormous flood of information in times of disaster. The destructive effects of the fires and the tragic fate of so many people deeply moved me. The piece is dedicated to those who have suffered loss in these terrible fires.
