Bagatelas das Ondas (1997)

These five 'wave bagatelles' were composed shortly after my return from an unforgettable visit to Brazil in 1996; above all, that most glamorous and thrilling of all cities, Rio de Janeiro: the sights, sounds and all manner of sensations must have got into these pieces, which were given their first performance in the Wigmore Hall by my friend the guitarist Fabio Zanon with flautist Marcelo Barbosa.
