Programme Note

An Introitus is a sort of musical introduction or opening, often before a mass or large-sclae work. The keyboard counterpoint could as well be played by a consort of viols, alternating with a nay (arabic flute). The scale outlined by the flute is the melodic kernel present in some form or another in most of the pieces throughout the album "Between Carthage and Rome". The outburst of cascading arpeggios in the middle also returns at the end of Sama'i point.
