Exequy, Op. 181 (2016)

Exequy was commissioned as a memorial tribute to the composer John McCabe for the 2016 William Alwyn Festival. It is based on the Kontakion melody (the traditional Russian chant for the dead) and on material derived from the six letters of John McCabe's name that can be expressed in musical notation.
