Programme Note
Some years ago, when I was writing this concerto for cello and orchestra, I went with a friend on a road trip around Spain. While on a mountainous road somewhere I spied a sign that read "Curvas Peligrosas” (Dangerous Curves). It occurred to me that the phrase was a good description of both the concerto as it was developing and the anatomy of my friend.
