Programme Note
Henri Tomasi's legendary Concerto for Trumpet unites opposing and rapidly changing moods, incarnated in just as many musical styles. They range from a film score to impressionism, or from exoticism to Aaron Copland’s music and on to jazz. Displaying dazzling virtuosity, the trumpet traverses these landscapes as would a solitary stroller, thoughts aflow in rapid succession.
Including the original Finale based on the composer's piano manuscript (restored passages orchestrated by Franck Villard).
