“Plus ou Moins” (“More or Less”) illustrates the point: strings writhe and squeal in the foreground; a muted piano ambles at a distance; and bass clarinet and glockenspiel scamper up the middle, all amid a mild din of crackle and hiss. Expressive solos and manic duos remind you that eminently skillful musicians are at work.
