Variants for Orchestra (1978)
- G Schirmer Inc (World)
Programme Note
This work was commissioned by the York Orchestra.
Composer Note:
[Variants for Orchestra is] a composition of subtle orchestrational and harmonic timbre, interwoven with melodic/motivic fragments. The special handling of colors, as well as pitch, make it a variation of sounds as well as motives. There is a prevalent kaleidoscope of timbral variants. The sustained qualities of the work lend an overall serene and shimmering effect.
