Antheil’s aesthetic is very much what is fashionable now. [In the] exotic rumba called Archipelago, you get an immediate sense of the exact qualities of the piece: airy strings, incisive brass, snappy rhythm, transparent textures...the performance is a joy. This is an important release, a knock-out in every way.
