Programme Note

Vulcan was the Roman god of smithcraft – his workshop was placed inside the volcano Etna. I imagine Vulcan’s forge to be a very warm place where the lesser gods hammer away at everything that can be hammered on. I also imagine (for no particularly explicable reason) that they hammer faster and faster in perpetuity, reaching incomprehensible speeds.

Vulcan’s Forge was written for Trio Touché with the support of the Danish Radio.
