DEN UENDELIGE SANG (The infinite Song) (1988) – a chamber opera in 3 Pictures, for recitation, soloists, choir, choir and instrumental ensemble (strings, wind instruments, brass, piano and percussion ensemble)

Libretto: Ulla Ryum, Marie Lalander, Per Nørgård (and Antique Greek authors).

A modern version of the story of Orpheus and Eurydice.

Picture I. Orpheus meets Eurydice, he falls in love – and loses her, and she dies.
Picture II. Orpheus brings his Eurydice back from Hades, the land of the deaths, but loses her again and forever.
Picture III. Orpheus life after Eurydice, including the encounter with the women from Thracian (Maenads) who first tries to seduce him and later tries to kill him – with noise! As a punishment the God Apollo turns them into oak trees.
