Programme Note
This unaccompanied scena was composed when I was at The Royal College of Music, and first performed there by Poppy Holden. It is a dramatic, throughcomposed setting of words from the Song of Songs, in Italian. The vocal line is occasionally intensified through use of microtones. The range is suited to either a mezzo or a soprano.
